One of South Africa’s biggest and most anticipated music festivals, Rocking the Daisies, has officially been cancelled for 2026, with organisers citing “unforeseen circumstances beyond our control” that have made it impossible for this year’s edition to go ahead.
The announcement, released in an official statement on Friday, comes as a disappointment to thousands of festivalgoers who had already secured tickets and were preparing for one of the country’s premier live music experiences. Rocking the Daisies has grown into one of Africa’s most recognised music festivals, attracting leading local artists, international performers and tens of thousands of fans annually.
In its statement, the festival organisers said the decision followed multiple attempts to find solutions that would allow the event to proceed.
“Despite multiple attempts to find solutions, a number of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control have made it impossible for Rocking the Daisies to proceed in 2026.”
The organisers acknowledged the disappointment the cancellation would cause and thanked fans, artists, sponsors and partners who had supported this year’s event.
“This decision was not made lightly, and we extend our gratitude to our family of patrons, artists, partners, and everyone who was looking forward to the festival this year.”

According to the statement, ticket refunds are expected to reflect in customers’ accounts within one to three business days.

Although the flagship festival will no longer take place this year, organisers have indicated that music fans will still have an opportunity to experience live performances through a new format.
Instead of the traditional multi-day camping festival, the Rocking the Daisies team will host an alternative one-day event under its “In The City” platform in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The organisers said the events will feature a selection of both international and South African artists, although the full line-up has not yet been announced.
“While Rocking the Daisies will not be taking place this year, we will be announcing an alternative 1-day show via the IN THE CITY platform across JHB and CPT, featuring a line-up of some of your international and local favourites.”
Tickets for the replacement events were announced to go on sale immediately, with organisers encouraging fans to follow the festival’s official platforms for additional information.
Rocking the Daisies has become a cultural landmark in South Africa’s entertainment calendar, serving not only as a music festival but also as a platform for fashion, youth culture, tourism and the creative economy.
